TrendWatch: Tangled Up In Chains

I can't seem to keep my necklaces from tangling, so this seems like the perfect accessory for me, the necklace that is tangled.. on purpose!

Book Review: A Little History of the World

If you're anything like me, much of what you learned in history class unfortunately went in one ear and out the other. So certain events or people I may know a thing or two about thanks to the few history classes I took in college and reading I've done since, but as for the basics on a global scale, please don't ask me to assign dates or put them in chronological order.

Then I found this amazing book called A Little History of the World, by EH Gombrich. Written with children as the audience in mind, it takes you from prehistoric times through WWII. It's a really interesting, quick read that puts everything together in a way that's very easy to digest. A highly recommend it!

Ruffle Dress

Love this Free People ruffle dress shown below over dark tights. Bonus: the keyhole back.

Coat Racks

When I walk into my apartment my coat typically gets thrown on the counter along with my bag and my shoes go into the shoe pile. This weekend I started researching some solutions to this problem.

Ok, so I would love to have this entire mudroom entryway below from Pottery Barn, but I'm afraid all I can fit is the Twig Coat Rack which would be a good start:

This modern design from Rare Device would be a great space saver:

This solution from Bed Bath and Beyond includes hooks all the way down providing more places for storage as well as places for little hands to reach:
And finally, this slim, contemporary rack also from Bed Bath and Beyond provides the basics:

The 'Stache

Sometimes the simplest things please me. These men's all over mustache socks from fredflare.com being one of them!

Sting Ray Chew Toys

I love anything sea themed, so of course I love these Sting Ray Chew Toys from Branch made from recycled wool.

With the help of the Icoon book you'll be able to get around in foreign lands communicating with pictures:
For someone like me who is banned from wearing white by her friends, this Laundrymat Pak is essential!

And finally, never again be forced to use the gross communal pouch in front of your seat with unidentifiable crumbs! Use this in flight seat pak instead:

The iPod Bean Bag

This is exactly what I need! A bean chair for my electronics. I have dinged my blackberry and destroyed my phone with overflowing sink water and can attest to the need for this. Yay!

Lighthouse Stay

Thought this was pretty interesting, stay overnight at this lighthouse in RI, and even maintain it for a week. As someone who is scared of my own shadow, I'll just have to work up the courage to go!

Rubber Stamp Set

Love this Bird and Nest rubber stamp set. Embellish your own thank you notes, placecards or other crafts with a touch of nature. I would have been very happy had I found a sea-theme set when I was wedding planning!

The Shoe Umbrella

Love these green shoe protectors from Shuella that can be worn with heels! (Will have to test out actually walking in them).

Just as I was about to ask what you do with them once you arrive at your destination I realized they come with a zippered pouch carrying case. The only thing that scares me is their warning to not wear in snow or on ice!

The Chain Tote

When I first saw someone carrying this tote on the subway, I couldn't stop thinking about it. As luck would have it, I stumbled upon it on sale at Urban Outfitters for only $39.99! The grey combo is on sale in the store, doesn't appear to be on sale online yet.
